Changing your E-mail

To change your e-mail settings in Netscape Communicator:

Click here to go directly to instructions on how to check your e-mail.

Click Edit, Preferences.  In the window that pops up, you will see a list of categories down the right hand side.  Double-click on the Mail and Newsgroups category.  Click Identity.  Fill in the blanks for Your name and Email address.

Asheboro  All Other Areas

If your e-mail address ends with @asheboro.com

Click on Mail Servers category.  Under Incoming mail servers, it should say mail.asheboro.com

If this box has something different, click on whatever is listed in that box one time to highlight it and click Edit.  Change the Server Name to mail.asheboro.com.  The Server Type should be POP3 Server, and the User Name should be the first part of your email address (the part BEFORE the @ symbol.  Do not type in @asheboro.com in this box.)  Click OK.

The Outgoing mail (SMTP) server should be mail.asheboro.com.  If it has something different, delete what is in the box and type mail.asheboro.com.

The Outgoing mail server user name should be the first part of your email address (the part BEFORE the @ symbol.  Do not type in @asheboro.com in this box.) 

Click OK at the bottom of the screen.

If your e-mail address ends with @communityweb.net

Click on Mail Servers category.  Under Incoming mail servers, it should say mail.communityweb.net

If this box has something different, click on whatever is listed in that box one time to highlight it and click Edit.  Change the Server Name to mail.communityweb.net  The Server Type should be POP3 Server, and the User Name should be the first part of your email address (the part BEFORE the @ symbol.  Do not type in @communityweb.net in this box.)  Click OK.

Click OK at the bottom of the screen.

To check your e-mail once it is setup, there are 2 ways to check mail:

  1. Click on Communicator, click Messenger.  In the window that pops up, click Get Msg.   

    OR

  2. In the bottom right-hand corner of the Communicator window, there are several small icons.  When you point the arrow at them, their names should pop up.  Click on the icon labeled Inbox.
