Setting up Netscape

Installing Netscape Communicator (for new customers and existing customers who are switching to Netscape)

Before you install Netscape, you must install Internet Explorer in order to update certain files associated with dialing into the internet. Please follow the instructions for installing Internet Explorer BEFORE installing Netscape Communicator.

To install Netscape, remove and re-insert the Internet Setup CD. If the Install window does not appear, go to the icon for your CD drive and double-click on the file setupnow.exe. Click Other Browsers. Choose Netscape Communicator Upgrade. Follow the on-screen instructions for each step of the installation. Choose Yes to restart your computer and click OK. After your computer restarts, double-click on the new Netscape Communicator icon. If it asks if you want to transfer the settings from the previous version, choose No. You will need to type in the settings for Community Web. Follow the on-screen instructions to create a new profile.

You may be asked for the following settings:

If your e-mail address ends with @asheboro.com

Incoming mail server mail.asheboro.com

The Server Type should be POP3 Server.

The User Name should be the first part of your email address (the part BEFORE the @ symbol.  Do not type in @asheboro.com in this box.)

The Outgoing mail (SMTP)  mail.asheboro.com

The Outgoing mail server user name should be the first part of your email address (the part BEFORE the @ symbol.  Do not type in @asheboro.com in this box.) 

If your e-mail address ends with @communityweb.net

Incoming mail server mail.communityweb.net

The Server Type should be POP3 Server.

The User Name should be the first part of your email address (the part BEFORE the @ symbol.  Do not type in @communityweb.net in this box.)  Click OK.

Outgoing mail (SMTP) server  mail.communityweb.net  

The Outgoing mail server user name should be the first part of your email address (the part BEFORE the @ symbol.  Do not type in @communityweb.net in this box.) 

On connecting the first time, your browser will try to pull up Netscape's home page. You may get an error message due to how busy that site is. Click Home to return to our home page and your upgrade is finished. Disconnect.
