TAILGATE DOWN(94KB)

A-livin' out here in the country,
A good ten miles from town;
Most ever-body drives a pick-up,
And usually, with the tailgate down.

No matter the brand of truck they drive,
Seems all make a similar sound;
And it's due to that country preference,
Of drive'n with the tailgate down.

I heard a federal commission,
Once investigated and found;
That road-dust seems to lay much quicker,
When drive'n with the tailgate down.

Well… I ain't no gov-ment scientist,
I'd rather smile than carry a frown;
But unless I'm take'n hogs to the Sale,
I'm a-drive'n with my tailgate down.

Now… I heard Ford and Chevy engineers,
Got a new idea go'n 'round;
To stamp their names on the side of the truck,
'Cause we all drive with the tailgate down.
