ONE IN TEN(138KB)

My Dad's a crow'n Rooster and my Mom's,
A Red-Sett'n Hen;
But the odds I'll ever get to grow up,
Are only... one in ten.

There was brother Buddy don't ya know,
His shell was never soiled;
But then to his surprise one morn'n,
Buddy woke up hard-boiled!

Now sister Sue I thought was cute,
So pretty, round and white;
But just today I heard the fact,
She'd been fried-up... rather light!

I liked brother Chew Chew, oh so big,
How he could tell a joke;
But Chew Chew today became an omelet,
All thanks to his double-yoke!

There was half-sis Sally who I'll,
Tell before you ask it;
Gathered late in April and last seen,
In an Easter basket!

I still have nightmares now and then,
'Bout my brother Jake;
One day... when sitting next to me,
He got swallowed by a snake!

There's the story 'bout cousin Penny,
Who quicker than a wink;
Found herself all scrambled-up... and,
Next to a sausage-link!

So now ya see just why I'm nervous,
Try'n to be THE... one in ten;
Just let me see the light of day,
Be it... Rooster, or be it... Hen!
